Which has recently been re-organized, celebrated the anniversary of St. Patrick a Marini's Academy, (formerly Temperance Hall,’ by a swpper served up by Messrs. - ban and Howell, of the Everett House. Ti tables were cet in two lines at which abont 100 gentlemen, among them all classes of Irishmen, Sweeney Fenians. O'Mahoney Fenians, and Anti-Fenians, set down about 9 e’clock. The walls of the room were decoraied on one side by « large American Flag, while opposite was ark nm bauner representing a female with a harp decked with shamrock, by whose side is the wolf Gog, and over all the rays of the sun. ‘The feat was presided over by Mr. Samuel YT. Drury, President of the Society, who, in a neat addiess spoke of the origin of the Associa- tion and its opjects. * company then sat down at the table and those present we noticed Nicholas Cal- ian and James L. McGuire, Esqs., Councilmen Joyce, Tynan, and Hazell ;Colonel O*Beirne, Major D. J. Toohey, and other well known citizens. After full justice was done to the ap- pettzing vinnds provided for the occasion, the Teguinr toats were announced by the President as follows The Day werCelebrate. He didnot believe that the Constitution of the United States was destined by God for this country or continent alope, but eventually an instrumen 1 like it would be made for the government of all Europe. The time, be believed, was not far distant when the Declaration of Irish Inde- penceees would be read from the steps of indsor Castle, Ireland had helped to make America free, and they would ask from Ame- rica a little English neutrality, and first make ireland free, then England, Scotland, France, Germany, and in fact all Europe. The day of celiverance is not far distant. They believed that “Liberty for one hour was worth an eter- nity of bondage.” [Applause.] Dr. P. Mr. Renehan responded to the toasts to ‘Washington, and Mr. McDermott to that to kindred societies. - Following the regular many volunteer toasts Were proposed, songs sung, impromptu speeches made, and when we left the room date in the night, the company was in the heigh of enjoyment. The Society, which during the war, after Many years of success, was suspended, is now inactive operation, and will no doubt soon re- gain its old standard as a first-class benevolent society. C., March 19, 1566. Eprror Star :—l observe a paragraph in one of our city journals stating “that the two General Assemblies of the Pres! rianCharch —Old School and New School—are to meet in St. Louts, Mo., in May next, but that there is no correspondence or intercourse whatever between these two bodies.” The first branch of this statement respecting the place and time of the meeting of those two bodies is correct, but the other branch of the statement is incor- rect, as we have ample evidence at hand to show. After preliminary arrangements neces- sary to such an important movement, the Gen- eral Assembly of the Vid School, which met at Peoria, Lil, May, 1563, by a ananimous vote of that body, designated the Rev. Septimus Tustin, D. D., of this cicy, as the clerical dele- gate to the New School General Assembly to meet in Philadelphia Pa., the same ironth and year, with a view of inaugurating a friendly correspondence between these bodies. Dr Tustin was cordially received by the New School Assembly, and a correspondence was inaugurated under the most auspicious cir- cumstances, which bids fair to resuit in the re- union of these two bodies. Dr. Tustin bas received the gratitude of both branches of the church for the felicitous manner in which be discharged his elicate and respon- sible trust. 1 hope, however, that Dr. Tustin will furnish the community with a brief state- ment from bis own hand on this interesting subject, as it will no doubt occupy the atten- tion of the two Assemblies shortly to meet at St. Louis, Mo. I have no other interest in this communica- tion than the correction of the inadvertence into which some of your cotemporaries haye fallen. Very respectfally, W. B.
