The distribution of prizes at the Hibernian Free School took piace as usual. New Yor«, March 17.—Tke celebration of St. Patrick's day passed off pleasantly with- out the least disturbance. The procession em- braced four regiments of militia and a number of Irish charitable societies, all gaily dressed, and each carrying appropriate banners, among which in one instance was the ilag of the Irish Republic. The proeession was abont two hours passing agiven point, and was reviewed at City Hall by Mayor Hoffman and others. After the procession a meeting of the Fenians was held in front of the headqnarters,at Union Squere. This evening a dinner of the Knights of St. Patrick took place. Kent john Kob Adjourned Tue Prisoxers at THE Dey TortTveas.— A letter received from the Dry Tortugas, on the Florida coast, dated the 25th of last mon states that Edward Spangler and Arnold an OLaughhn have been all that could be de- desired as regards correct deportment since their incarceration. Spangler has earnestly and industriously labored in the carpenter shop; bas never been subject to reprimand in any shape; and though ounce or twice indis- posed and under treatment in the bospital, has in each imstance returned to duty before re- quired by regular discharge. He is well, and manifests a desire to serve out his sentence with patience. They are all well cared for, and are represented to be more comfortable and enjoying better health, probably, than if confined in an ordi: penitentiary. Lrons were put vpon all the State prisoners, four in number, solely on accountof the attempt madi by Mudd wescape. The irons have now been removed, and all liberty consistent with proper prison discipline is allowed them.
