Ar- rangements are perfected fora most brilliant “fair ~~ LOCAL Evening rae Vs renians of Festaxs Brotn Stor -—Dear Sir: In your issue of under the caption of “Action of the this District,” it was stated that a “general meeting of the meen Cireles of this District was held at maagerence Hall, under the auspices of the ¥ ashington Citcle,” that reso- iutions were introduced denouncing O'Ma- boney and pledging the support of the Fenians here to Roberts and the Senate; that the adop- tien of said resolution was warmly advocated by Jobn Finerty; that most of the kers counselled patience, &c.; and that the resoln- tions were laid on the table by a very decided vot. Now, sir, as Centre and presiding officer of the Washington Circle, with which 1 have been identified in various capacities for the ast six years, 1 beg leave to deny the correct- ness of the above statement. Ist. The adoption of the resolutions was not only advocated by Jobn Finerty, but also by myself (by whom they were introduced) and by two-thirds of the speakers. 3d. The resolutions were not laid on the table by a very decided vote, but were med to next meeting, by & vote of 26 against 24. The members of the Washington Circle are almost toa manon the side of the Senate, as the case now stands, but preferred postponing action on the subject, as stated above, until furnished with further facts, promised by the Fenian Senate.
