Myers, a son of the tenant on the farm of John Derr, Esq., three and a half miles northeast of Fred- erick city, Md., adjoining Monocacy bridge on the turnpike leading to Woodsboro’. Accord- ing to a statement in the Ezaminer the two boys Were sent out to a field with some cattle, and subsequently the body of young Myers was foand covered with blood and dead. Bowens ‘was arrested, and at first alleged that his com- panion had teen kilied by a kick from a horse, but soon after confessed that he had kilied him by beating bim with aclub. No reason for the murder is given. The Jamaica Insuraection.—The insur- + Tection of the negroes in Jamaica, which com- menced in the parish of St. Thomas in the East, appears to be a much more serious affair than it was at first supposed, and the imsur- Tectionists are carrying it on with great feroc- ity. It broke outon the ith of October, and on the 16th not a single white man remained in the parish; many of them having been killed and the remainder haying flea to saye their lives. It is reported that the negroes are guilty of the grossest outrages, torturing their pris- oners and mutilating the bodies ofthe dead. A number of the insurrectionists has been cap- tured and executed by the Britich authorities, and martial law had been proclaimed by the Governor.
