Baltimore Markets. Extra do. at $10.50a$11, the inside figure ‘for ame wheat Flour, and 500 bbis. standard City Mills Super at $9.75 per bbl. 5 Flour.—First quality new has sold in lots to the trade at 27a$7.25, and old stock at 96.75086.57 5 - Molasees.—Stock light and firmly held at quotations, viz:—Cuba Clayed 50a60 cts.; Mus- covade do. 55475 cents; English Island 60895 cents, and Porto Rico S0a% cents. No New Orleans in market. Coffee—Common to fair grades we quote at 1992204 cents, gold, and good to strictly prime Bt 2la22 cents, gold. Other varieties are scarce and nominal as previously quoted, viz:—La- guayra 32%a35 cents, currency, and Java 45a 50 cents, hese Provisions.—There has been scarcely any Market during the past week for the Hog pro- duct, and to effect sales dealers had to accept lower prices. Rates close unsettled but with a downward tendency. Butter_—All descriptions have been moving very slowly and the market closes dull and uneettied. Early in the week some 1.000 kegs Glades cold at 43a44 cents in running lots, and at 44245 for prime and ehoice dairies. New York State we quote at 44045 cents, as to quali- ty. Western Reserve at 33a38 cents, and South- ern Ohio at 28a32 cents. Sugars.—Transactions have been unusually light during the past week and the market closes very flat, but with no pressure on the part of hoiders. Salt—Stocks in first hands moderate and held very firmly. From store we still qnote Ground Alum at $2.59; Marshall's fine at $3.50; Ashton’s at $4 per sack, and Turk’s Island at 60 cts. per bushel. Cotton.—Prices haye been steadier during the Lavy week than for sometime past, and the mar- et closes firm at 5va60 cents for middling. Coal.—The market is more lightly supplied With Cumberland, but prices are unchanged, run of mine beaming i J the cargo at$? free on board at Locust Point. Anthracite remains firm at $11a$11.50 to dealers, and at $13a$13.50 in retail lots. Grain—Red Wheat and Rye have been main- tained at previous rates, but white Wheat, Corn and Oats have ruled lower, closing heavy. The decline in Corn has brought ship- = into the market, but \ransactions haye en inconsiderable. Tobacco—A very fair business has been done in Maryland Leat at previous rates, sales com- rising some 350 hhds. common frosted to prime Town at $3 to $17 per 100 ibe. At the close ‘We notice more disposition on the part of hold- ers to meet the views of buyers. Transactions in Ohio Tobacco have been unimportant and the market closes dull and heavy. Whisky—A further advance ‘in prices has been established, but the market, though light- ly supplied, closes inactive and rather heavy. Sales compfise some 300 bbls. Pennsylvania and Western. mostly the latter description, in small lots, at prices ranging from $2.36a%2.40. Rerales of the Government whisky, sold early in the month by the Commissariat Department, at $2.25 per running gallon, have been made to the extent of 500 bbls. at $2.35 per proof gallon. SNrnaenitnts usteisiateain. sean Sas oF REAL Estate—The real estate of the late John Contee, situated in the Forest of this county, was offered at public sale on Tues- Gay and Wednesday last by Messrs. T. G. Pratt and Daniel Clarke, Trustees for thesale of the Home Place, called “Pleasant Prospect,” and by Messrs. Richard B. B. Chew and Danie! Clarke, Trustees for the sale of the resi- due of the realestate of the deceased. The Home Place, “Pleasant Prospect,” supposed to contain 575 acres, was disposed of at $15 per acre, and was purchased by Thomas R. Wil- son, Esq., of Washington City. The other two tracts were withdrawn—only’812 for the wood and SIl per acre for the cleared land being offered. We learn that the ratification of the sale of the first named tract will be contested before the Court. Mr. Thomas Talbert, (of E.,) disposed of his farm, situated in Surratt’s District, on Friday, the 2th instant, for the sum of $19,000. It con- tained 605 acres,and was purchased by Mr. Niles, of Washington.—Maryland Prince Geor- gran. Manassas Gar RAILroap,—The Shenan- doah Herald speaking of the Manassas Gs Railroad, says that the President of the Com- pany, in a recent conversation, had no definite information on the subject. A good deal of difficulty had been realizs in getting the Proper authority to take suck action as would restore to the company the iron taken from the Toad, shortly after the commencement of the war, by the military authorities, and used upon other roads. If this iron could gotten back, itis probable that, in the course of a few months, the road would be repaired and the cars put upon it. This factand the additional circumstance, that there are heavy pecuniary liabilities hanging over the company, will ex- plain the reason why the road remains as it is Sale aT THE WaTERVLIET ARSENAL—On Tuesday a large quantity of war material was sold at the Watervliet Arsenal, at auction. The sale was tolerably well attended. Cannons and caisons, muskets, and pistols, old rifle barrels, and even screw-drivers, were disposed of to the highest bidder, upon terms that were little better than “dog cheap.” Buyers from New York took the largest amount of stock, Whether for the Fenians or tne Republic of Mexico, the: isely kept to themselyes. There were about one bundred thousand muskets sold, several hundred pistols, one or two can- non, and & mass of other material. He was visiting some traps in the woods, had bent over one of them, when he heard a cap burst, and rising, saw a negro ap- pee with a pistol in his hand. Mr. Par- er immediately seized his gun and shot his assailant, killing him instantly.
