The principal witness at the examination ‘Was Antonio Siussa, who testified that Vernon came to him as the boat was pushing off, and Said he had had @ hl of a fuss; that some man Knocked him down, and he snapped the pistol twice at him; that he (Vernon) took the barrel off, showing there was but one load in it; that he saw bim point the pistol down the boat, and saw Krausser in the act of falling Vernon this morning stated that he had had a difficulty with some man, but had made up. Another witness says he asked Vernon to let | him fire his pistol before the boat left, but he said he wanted that load for a particular pur- | ose.
