Letcher was inclined to eonceel his identity by giving the name of Robert Letcher, bu; Mudd; was his slave; left his Rouse two years ago pext October. Heard Mudd say that Lin- coin would not keep nis seat long, It was summer before last that he said this. Two or three gentlemen were in the house when he said it. These men were dressed partly in grey and partly in black, and they slept in the pines. Mudd sometimes carriea victuals to them, and semetimes Mary Simms carried it tothem.
