The citizen refused to take it, and McNeir struck bim with hiscratch, and his companion joined McNeirand beat the citizen severely, McNeir was arrested by of- ficers Hurdle and Boyle, and taken to the Fourth ward station. McNeir’s companion escaped, and the party beaten could not be found. McNeir was turned overto the mili- tary.
