Boyle wore a soldier's cap, a rebel military coat and gray pantaloons, and had bis medicine satchel swung to his side. He wilt be remembered 8s the leader of the Na- tioral Volunteers, a traitorous military body, organized in this city at the outbreak of the rebellion. He is said, while in the rebel army, to have shown uniformly great bitterness if not positive cruelty towards Washingtonians captured by the rebels.
