B. Weed, charged with the larceny of a trunk from the bourding-house of Mrs. Miller, was calied for trial. Previous to the hour, Mr. W. J. Miller, upon whose information the warrant was issued and the arrest made, entered the office of Justice Boswell, theexamining magis- trate, and withdrew the charge, saying that the prosecuting witness, his mother, did not wish to prosecute. At the hour fixed upon Mr. Weed appeared, and Justice Boswell dismissed the case, Mr. Weed then demanded a warrant against Mr. Miller for faise imprisonment. While the Warrant was being filled up an officer stepped out and brongh: Mr. Miller to the office, where he waited until the warrant was filled up, and, without troubling an cfficer to arrest him, ac- know ledged tne service of the warrant. Mr. ‘Weed was not ready for trial, and did not snow at what time his comnsel, Mr. Ford, would be ready. The ease holds over until Mr. Weed shail notifly the Justice of bis readiness for a hearing. Adjourned. ae An EArNEsT Protzst.— Zion's Herald (Methodist) expostulates earnestly against the proposed inauguration ball at Washington, to be given in the Patent Office building. It says “While we regard it as 4 sin at any time, on such an ocexsion, for the nation’s Officiary to condescend to such levity as to attend and sanction a grand ball, we shall look upon it at this time as @ fisgrant insult both to God and men. We therefore hope that good sense and better judgment will prevail at Washington, and that, if for no other reason, out of respect to the memory of those who have died for the country; ontof sympathy for thousands who still weep and mourn, and out of a decent re- gard for the Christian seatiments of the truest patriots in all the land, there will be no Presi- dential inauguration ball this year.’ East WASHINGTON SUNDAY SCHOOL Unton. You complain of your stomach, unfortunate dys- peptic; but ought not your stomach to complain of you? Possibly the pangs you endure are simp'y the stomach’s method of taking revenge upon you for neglecting and abusingit, Perhaps you have never made an effort to improve its condition, but on the other hand arecontinually cramming itwith unwholesome and imcorgruous food. Have you ever tried HoStsTTER’s StoMACH BitTERS,a proper diet and regular meals? The Bitters in a week would put your digestive apparatus in per’ect or- der, regulate the flow of bile im accordance with the laws of health, and preduce just so much aperient action as would be necessary for your geod; and when you were once all right, judicious and reg- ular dieting, with a little of the Tonic now and then, would keep you so. If you have neglected these means of cure, don’t blame your stomach for itsrebellion, Itis merely nature’s hint that she wants help, If younegiect it, the next thing may be Inflamation, or Scirrhus Cancer, or some other violent and dangerous diseare, There is such a thing as being foc latein these matters.
