At two o'clock the venerable schoolhouse, corner of Fourteenth and G streets, opposite the Foundry Church, was crowded to its ut- mest capacity with the young lady pupils, teachers from this and other districts, a num- ter of distinguished literary genuemen, minis- tre of the Gospel, trustees, and quitea delega- tious from the schools of georgetown. This is the fine school of Miss Adeline K Lowe. Mr. Robert Ricketts, formerly a trustee of that dis- trict, arose and, on behalf of the scholars, pre- sented to his old associa'e, Mr. Wilson, asplen- did cake salver. Mr. Wilson then approached the platform, and, in a very pleasant manner, presented to Miss Lowe a magnificent work- box, well furnished, “as a token oflove from her pupils.” Excellent addresses were made by Trustees Hoilmead, Hitz, Tustin, Ellis and Z. Richards. We are requested to state that other schools of this District contemplated similar tokens of love to their teachers; but tunds‘for such pur- poses were ccntributed to alleviate the suifer- ings of a lady in advanced life, belonging to the First Ward.
