After reviring to bed, he noticed a fallow who bad a Jong stick, at the end of which was a screw, which be tuserted through the ‘ransom oxerthe chamber door and had hooked into Burch's coat. Ter rell and Joseph Thomas, two colored individ- uals well known to the police, and with them strolled into Prather’s Alley. There he was knocked down and robbed of his watch and mouey. He gave information tothe Fourth Ward police, and Officer Lewis arrested Ter- rell about 10y o'clock that night, and Rounds- man Kelley arrested Thomas about 9 o’clock Sunday morning. Walter, Silas Seymour and Uhris- topher Adams for a libel published against Charles F. Anderson. The parties charged are well known architects, and the alleged libel is said to have been contained in & paper exhibited to the House Committee Buildings, which spoke lightly of the character of Ander- fon as an archiiect (the committee having at the time a petition of Mr, Anderson asking re- muneration for his plans and specifications of the Capitol Extension.) a et ANOTHER SMALL RAID INTO MARYLAND — Capt. Chatman, who, with his guerrilla gang, made the raid upon Gilpin and Bentley’s store, at Sandy Spring, Friday morning, on Sunday morning about 3 o'clock tried his hand again by attempting to carry off the goods of a store five miles north of Rockville. The farmers again turned out and drove themoff. We have not yet been able to learn the particulars of the affair. We understand, however, that Chat- man and his crew made a hasty retreat to- wards the Potomac without any plunder. Sey Se Frire.—About 12 o'clock Saturday night fire ‘Was discovered in a shanty on K street, be- tween 9h and 10th, oceapied by ©. Hellem- bach as a wheelwright shop. The flames spread rapidly to the adjoining shanties, occu- pied by a number of colored families. The en- lire row of shanties was destroyed. The shan- ties belonged to Mrs. Edmonson, and the loss was trifling. The tenants’ loss in the aggre- gate was small, but is a heavy calamity to them at thisseason.
