A DsaTH CLoox.—We have recently been informed of a truly wonderful clock, which js said to belong to afamily in Newport. The clock is of simple construction, and belongs to the family of Mr. L———y; but all the efforts of the clockmakers have not been able to make it keep time—consequently, it has been per- mitted to rest in silence. A tew hours before the death of Mr. L—_—-y’s sister, some short time since, the clock suddenly strack one, after a silence of many months. to mAjntain its silence until another member of the family was prostrated with a fatal malady, when it again struck one and on the following | dey the child was buried. M., for the de- livery, at the following arsenals, “of HORSE EQUIPMENTS, United States Cavalry pattern, as hereinafter specified: At the New York Arsenal, 15,000 sets, At the Frankford Arsenal, 2,00 sets, At the Alleghany Arsenal, 5,000 sets, Atthe St Louis Arsenal, 3,000 sets. These sets of Horse Equipments are to be fur- nished complete, except the horse-brush, curry- comb, lariat, picket-pin link, nose-bag, spurs and straps, and blanket. The curb and watering bits, the malleas's iron hardware, and stirrups, are to conform strictly in pattern and finish to those de- posited at the arsenals above named. The trees are to be of the regulation pattern. assorted sizes —not Jess than 332 inches between the bars on the inside of the pummel, the side bars of hard white wood, or beech; the pummels and cantles of beech, well put together,all the irons one-tenth of an inch thick. and all let into the wood; to be covered with the best slaughtered cow-hide; all other covering to be rejected. The trees are to be snb- ject to inspection-during all stages of their manu- facture, and if deemed necessary the leather to be inspected before cutting; but the final inspection will be made at the arsenals where delivered. Deliveries must be made in lots of not less than one-tenth per week of the whole number con- tracted for; the first deliveryto be made on the 18th day of’ June, 1864. < Failure to make deliveries at a specified time will subject the contractor to a forfeiture of the number he may fail to deliver at that time.
