Concert.—Another of the series of concerts by ‘he pupils of the Pubiic Scheels, for the purpose of purchasing pianos, will be given this evening at the Smithsonian, under the dir-ction of Prof. Daniel. The pupils ~of the Female Secondary Schools give this con- cert, THe Farr anp Festiva of the Found M. E. Choreh, corner of Fourteenth and @ atreets, is still worthy a visit. There is a fine display of tancy and useful articles, and the ladies in attendance are witty and agreeate. a Escont To THE Remains OF GENERAL Wapsworts.—The remains of Gen. James S. Wadsworth were at a late hour last night éransferred from the cdffin in which they were brovght from Fredericksburg to a fine rose- wood coffin, made by Harvey & Uo., and which was lined throughout with zinc. The body was sO mach decomposed that the features could scarcely be recognized, ard it was ut- terly impossible to place upon him other cloth- ing, and consequently he will be buried in the garments in which he fell. <A silver ovil- shaped plate upon the top ef the coffin bore the inscription, “ Brigadier General James S. Wadsworth, died of wounds received im the ae of the Wilderness, Friday, May 6th, 1-64.” This morning, at 6 o’clock, the remains were escorted from the embalming establishment of Drs. Brown and Alexander, and conveyed to the depot for transmission to New York for intermett. A large number of the personal and military friends of deceased were present when the coffin was removed. The coffin was placed in & hearse, and the American flag was thrown over it; while eight soldiers of the In- valid Corps were detailed to walk by the hearse as a guardof honor. Among the mili- tary officers present was Gen. Augur, and Sen- ator Wilson and other civilians followed the remsins to the depot. The remains will ba accompanied to New York by Adjutant Gen- eral Sprague, of tbat Sta‘e, and Hon. Messrs. fenton, Odell, Morris, Ganson, Frank and Winfield, a committee appointed by the con- gressional delegation. Extensive preparations have been made in New York for the reception of the remains. ees ALYXANDRIA AFFAIRS. ‘ominations.--At & Meeting held at the Cannon House on Monday evening, May 9th, for the purpose of nomi- nating State officers, on motion, Ed. The narra- tive wasto minute, so accurate, so complete in allits parts, asto give the audience a per- fect picture of the whole battle; and was de- livered with such earnestness, power, and elo- quence, as to indelibly impress it upon the minds of all. Westlake with the larceny of $170. The par- ties boarded at the American House, (old Wig- Wwam,) and the lieutenant, whose name is Henry A. Hunting, fell into Westlake’s com- pany there Westlake charged that the lieu- tenant went with him toa bawdy house, where he supposed the money was taken from him. Justice Kinsey examined the evidence, but could discover no proot that the lieutenant had been anywhere with the accuser, and none that Westlake tad any money, and sc he hon- orably discharged the lieutenant. Officer Howard then arrested Westlake as a deserter and locked him up in the Fourth Ward Station House until this morning, when he wastarned over to the military. a “Boys, THRASH THAT UCOPPERHEAD!”— Night betore last, as four Veteran Reserve soldiers were-carrying a wounded soldier on 4 stretcher from the boat to the hospital—bis wounds being of such a nature that it was deemed necessary to carry hfm in thatmanner— an individual of secesh proclivities gave pretty free vent to bis sentiments, addressing his lan- guage to the soldiers. The wounded man, who st was thought was dying, aroused by the tellows taunts, to the surprise of his supporters, drew the blanket (with which he was covered) from over his tace and said “ Letme down boys, and give tl.at d—d copperhead a thrash- ing!’ which remark the man heard and he immediately tkedaddled, the Reserves atthe same time showing a disposition to follow up ihe suggestion. | a TERESA CAERENO Announces her farewell concert for to-morrow (Friday) evening.
