Dahigren, arrived up this | morning, with the Admiral on board, he having been again unsuccessful in his mission. The fieg-of-truce boat, which was due at Old Point | on Tuesday sflernoon, did not arrive yntil yes- terday afternoon, on account of the storm, which obliged her to lay to off Old Jamestown Island during Tuesday night. The boat | brought down a number of wounded soldiers, | but did not bring down the remains of Colonel Dahigren, as expected; Col. Ould, the Confed- erate agent for the exchange of prisoners, send- | ing 8 verbal mesauge that the man who buried the body of Col. D. could not be found in time to get it ready for transportation, but that it would be sent down as soon as possible. This | promise gives the officers at Old Point and the numerous relatives and friends of the deceased hopes that the remains will shortly be deliy- ered to his afflicted father and family. Captain Mitchell describes the storm on the | bay as one of the most terrific which has ever occurred The wind from the northeast com- menced at an early hour on Tuesday morniag, | @nd the snow commenced ‘bout ten o'clock, continuing all day and night with tremendous fury. The Baltimore got to the Fortress in time to shelter. There were a lurge namber of veesels in the roads during the storm, which | were tossed about furiously, and some of them were driven ashore and badly damaged. Three schooners (supposed to be coalers) were driven ashore at Willoughby’s Point, two of which bilged, and 4re total wrecks, and the third was thrown upon the beach, from which it is believed she may be got offin safety. Four persons belonging to the vessels were lost, two being drowned, and two frozen te death. Itis feared that considerable other damage was dene in the bay. The storm detained the Louisiana, (of the Baitimore line) which was to leave the Fortress on Tuesday afternoon, until yesterday afterneon; and the Adelaide, of the same line, due from Baltimore yesterday morning, did not arriye until last evening. s Sahay an ete REGIMENTS OF THE VETERAN VOLUN- TEERS RBELIBVED. When Tay- lor saw the trick, he started for the same des- tination, and for a time the race seemed doubt- fal; but finally the Yankees came in about three hands ‘ad,captaring the fort andeleven guns, four of them Parrotts, one 11-inch, and several 32-pounders, and also 300 prisoners. “This gives Gen.
