OUR MILITARY BUDGET. UNDER ARREST. 5 Lieut. Col. James M. Sanderson, who was chief commissary of the First Army Corps when captured, arrived on Saturday evening, among the last batch of prisoners fom Rich. mond. On his arrival, he was notified that charges had been preferred against him by Col. Knight, that while in Libby prison he disclos- ed to the rebel authorities information of a plot toescape. He is under arrest in this city. Lieut. Col. Sanderson, by the published re- ports of bis statements since his arrival here certainly does not seem to entertain a very kindly feeling towards sundry of the escaped prisoners tiom the Libby as he is quoted as ex- . pressing great * indignation” at the “exagger- the treatment of Union prisoners in Richmond. * EXCHANGE OF PRISONERS. General Wadsworth left this city for Fortress Monrce yesterday, with orders from the War ouers upon the basis recently acted on by the rebels, by which one hundred rebel prisoners im possession of the rebel authorities. General Wadsworth bas been instructed to state that no more prisoners will be exchanged, that, too, without regard to color.—Chronicle. With the exception of the single fact that Gen. Wadsworth has left the city, there is, we learn, not a shadow of foundation for the above statement or any portion of it. The Government, as we are further assured, has | : no intention whateyer of interfering with the | ed to Gen. Buuler. THE COAL DEPOT FOR THE FLOTILLA. ‘The statement that it isin contemplation to rect workshops on St. Inigoes’ Creek, in St. Mary county, Md., for ihe repair of the boats of the flotilla, is not correct. The coal depot, ’ which has been heretotore at Piney Point, will he removed to that place as soon as the wharf there is corapleted. The repairs and fitting atthe Navy Yard, as tormerly. ARMY MOVE ENTS Washington in some fifteen days. stood that a reorganization of the Army of fhe Potomac will immediately be commenced for @ vigorous spring campaign. General Grant, it is also reported, will superintend the first movement in the field. GENERAL MEADE. General Hancock will appear to-day before the Military Committee in the Meade iny: gating case. ORDERED. ordered to the receiving ship at New York. 0 SF The Philadelphia Felegraph says “that a p letter/has been received from afriend of the : late brave Uolonel Dablgren, who served with that unfortunate officer during the recent raid atout Richmond, which states emphatically | that the so-called ‘order’ alleged to have been found upon the body of Colonel Dahlgren, was a fabrication and forgery in toto. No such or- der was ever written, issued, printed or even considered by the noble young Colonel, as far as his friends are apprised. It is believed that this miserable lie was gotten up for effect, to cover the indigni‘ies visited upon the remains of Dahlgren.” . 87 The Richmond Wiig, of March 9th, says it willtake about a week more to rebuild, the i railroad to Lee’s army. Leehas sent out his cavalry in ali directions to seize everything in the shape of forage and subsistence for his treops. The circuitous route that everything has to come over by railroad renders it impos- sible for Lee to secure enough over one line to prevent his army from suffering. The Whig also says that the Rebel force in Florida out- numbered ours two to one. THE CACTURE OF THE BL ADE RUNNER We have the following interesting particu- lars of the capture, by the U.S. steamer Grand Gulf, of the noterious Anglo-rebel steamer Mary Annie, one day from Wilmington, N. C., with a cargo of Sea Island cotton, turpentine, rosin, and tobacco, with seventy-two prisoners. She is an iron side- wheel steamer, of 100 tons burthen, built last May at Glasgow, on the river Cldye, and of the following dimensions: Length on deck, 210 feet; breadth of beam 22 feet; depth of hole 9 feet, with four water tight compartments. She has two powerful in- | clined engines, and double vertical tubular She is one of the fastest blockade runners ply- ing between the above ports, haying success- tully run the blockade five times. She is re- ported to be a faster vessel than the Robt E- Lee, and it ig said she made nigeteen statute miles per hour on her trial trip. The Grand Gulf sighted the Mary Annie at daylight and chasing dead to windward, forced her to throw overboard a portion of the cotton which was stowed on deck, and she, although light and in periect running order, was over- hauled and captured ina stern chase, which is notoriously a long one, by one of the very cruisers concerning which the enemies of the Navy Department have made so much fault- finding. steamer Fulton.
