EL PRISON LOOKOUT TO e The King Phillip, Acting Master Frank, ar- rived atthe Navy Yard yesterday afternoon from the Lower Potomac. A few days ago the cficers at the camp of the rebel prisoners of war at Point Lookout discovered that some of the prisoners wer: evidently making arrange- ments to escape from their quarters. It appears that by some meaus the prisoners in one of the quuriers had procured some lam- ber, with which they had bailt two boats, in which itis supposed they were toembark for the Virginia shore. Fortunately they were de- tected in their operations belore they had calked the boat. It appears also that they had collect- ed scmo 70 old muskets and a lot of stones, (@ scarce article in that locality, and which must have been brougat from some distanca,) which they probably designed using as wea- pons against any persons who should resist them. - Ilis thought, however, that but few of the prisoners were to attempt the escape unless indeed, more boats were to be built, as the two beats found would not be able to carry more than fif'y persons. The oflicers on discovering the plot, immedi- a‘ely tock every precauticn to sure the safe keeping of the prisonsre ATTEMPT OF R RS AT POINT PE GOT OFF, * The crdnance steamer Baltimore, Acting Master Mitchell, arrived at the Navy Yard yeeterdsy afternoon, having been got off Yates Bar,on which she ran onthe morning of the eth inst.
