He will sustain prominent psrts in the plays «Heir at Law” and “John Dobbs,” and in both will be, a3 usual, exceedingly amusing. That Mr Owens is not likely to lose his popularity in Washing- ton is ehcwn by the crowded houses he has drawn for two weeks. Groven’s TUEATER.— Miss M, E. Braddon’s novel, «Eleanor’s Victory,’ has been drama- tized, and will be produced to-night for the first time at eny theater, at Grove! Mr. Grover, with characteristic energy, has, with this play, had painted new and superb scenery suited to the various acts;*and Koppitz, the brilliant -deacer of the orchestra bere, has produced now gems cf music. Mr. Hinton, the president of the society, made an earnest speech, and was succeeded by John Causten. Jonn Henry Thomas read a very well written speech. Prof. Wilkeson sang an improved edition of the famous Joha Brown song, in the chorus of which the audience heartily joined. Lenox Remond, an anti-sl1- very orator, made 4 persuasive harangue, which was followed by a well written poem, read by its author, Wm. Miles. This week closes the holidays, and the mar- kets for poultry and game were very active, and none that we could learn, were left over in first hands, but all sold off clean. I look for an active demand for all kinds of poultry, as our city is now filled with people, and the army are large consumers, as usual. Shippers cannot be too careful of the quality of poultry, and cnly aim to ship the best to the market.
