These parties, when they missed their property, made imquiries abeut it, and suspicion fell on the accused, who was arrested on Friday by con- stable J. W. Gray, of Alexandria, and was brougbt to this city to show to whom the an- imals had been sold. hut they had all been sisughtered. He was taken beiore Justice Bar- naclo and turned over to officer Shele, and the justice committed him to jail tor a hearing, which was given him on Saturday, when he acknowledged the act @nd returned $57 of the money he had received, and voluntarily re- turved with Mr. Gray to Alexandria, where he ‘will be tried. oe Brack BURGLARs.—Officers Burchand Fra- mier, of the Fourth Ward, yesterday arrested John Smith, Wm. Clarke, Geo. Curtis, David Mason, Wm. H. Starks and Sandy Rodgers, all colored, and all (with the exception of Smith, who is twenty-one years of age) under fifteen years of age, for breaking into the store of J. H. Crene & Co., and stealing boxes of sardines, eans of fruit, &c. The boys entered the store by breaking a barfrom the cellar window of the store, and all went in. Smitn was only connected with them by being incompany with them this morning, and haying in bis posse<- sion & portion of the stolen goods. The boys confessed the larceny.
