While this change was being effected, at about three o'clock yesterday morning, the Tevels made & demonstration against the Sixth Corps; but nothing further was accomplished than’ the driving in of the pickets of that corps aphort distance, when the rebels retired. McCandless, commanding train guard at Burke's Station, reports that about 25 rebel guerrillas attacked the train which he was guarding, on the afternoon of Tueeday last, and captured a wagon-master, two teams of mules, and the wagon-master’s horse, They held them but a short while, however, for Lt. MeO.’s men—ouly thirteen—rusbed upon them, recaptured the wagon-master, his horse, and the mules, wounded two or three of the rebels and captured one. The rest of them fled to the. ‘wood, mounted their animals and made their escape, _ Lieutenant McO.'s men behaved with creat gallantry, and had they been provided with horses, the whole party of rebels would doubt- less have been captured. , It will be seen from the above that the ver- sion of the affair telegraphed from here north ‘was incorrect in many particulars. A HUBBUB IN WALL STREET. rumor prevailed in Wall street alleging that the Union priconers confined in Richmond had broken out of the Libby prison, and, aided by Unionists in Richmond, taken the city by 3 coup de main. There is no trath in the story. The only shadow of foundation for it is the fact that quite a number of Union prisoners lately escaped from Oastle Thunder, and at last accounts bad not been recaptured by the Confederates. STATEMENT OF A-REFUGER. A refugee from Spottsylvania*county, Va. by the name of King, brings the report that Hood’s division of Longstreet’s corps that went Westto the aid of Bragg, has rejoined Lee, This is doubtful. King states that he didnot meeta single Con- | federate picket on his way here. PRISONERS OF WAB. Patrick Farrell, Moseby’s guerrillas; Henry Osborne, 18th Miss. infantry; Wm. H.
