Forn’s TSEATSR.—This is the last night bat one of the performance of the beantifal spec- tacuiar drama “The Naiad Queen.” Itwould no doubt prove @ good card for many nights more, but Mr, Ford desires to present other at- tractions; and fall houses may therefore be ex- pected on these Jast nights, This superb place of amusement is now in the full tide of success. Wasuinotow Tarayen—‘‘The ghost” is the feature here at the present time. The spectre is incidental to the pertormimen of the drama, «The Death Fetch of the Ruined Castle,” which is played with brillianteffect. The following resolutions were offered : Whereas Providence in divine wisdom has ealled trom earthly labors our fellow-officer and companion, Lieut. James M. Brannan, 10th New Jersey volanteers: Therefore, as an ex- pression of the cfficerg connected with the head- quarters ofthe Military Districtof Washington, be it Resolved, That in his manliness of character and strict and conscientions adherence to duty, Lieut. Brannan had become endeared to us all; and that in him we have lost a genial compan- ion and a faithful co-worker. Resolved That, believing him to have been sacrificed whilein the performance of his duties, ‘we the more deeply feel his loss, regretting that he should haye been so untimely called away, while yet looking forward to a more exalted and useful future, Resolved, That, as those who have known and associated with him daily, we bear testimony to his worth and constant usefulness, as well as his unselfish devotion to the Government under whose flag he ser ved, which devotion he has sealed with his blood as freely as though be bad died upon the batiue-field, where he has fought the open foes of his country as manfully and courageously as here he has battled with and exposed its secret enemies. Resolved, That we unite in tendering to the bereaved parents aod friends of Lieutenant Brannan our sincere smpathy in their afflic- tion, and that in token thereof a copy of these Tesolutions, bearing thé sicnatureof the various officers, be forwarded to his parents. 1t was also resolved, That the proceedings of this meeting be published in the city papers; and that the officers of the headquarters attend the funeral of the deceased in a body. Vol- unteers. —— GvARDING CONFISCATED PROPERTY.—The property of Daniel Ratcliff, situated on K street norih, between Twelfth and Thirteenth streets ‘West, which was confiscated by the Govern- ment, and sold on Wednesday by Deputy Mar- shal Phillips to Wm. C. Malone for $2,150, was guarded on Wednesday night by a military force. This gave rise toa rumor that the honse ‘was guarded because fears were expressed that it would be destroyed by the secession triends of the owner, who are resident in this city. The guard, we understand, was placed there to give formal notice to the present occu- pant, Mrs. Harris, that the Government in- tended to seize the estate for military purposes. ‘The property is situated on partof fot2, square 281, and is improved by a three-story brick building. —_————_ A PROFESSIONAL MENDICANT.—Angelina ‘Lagormorrina was arrested on Wednesday for going around begging, on pretence of obtaining of obtaining aid to go to the western countr She is a very neat looking Italian woman, dressed in mourning, speaks English badly, and is a bandsome specimen of a professional Btreet beggar. She was lectured by Justice Gibereon upon the impropriety of her conduct, and dismissed with a warning that a second ffence would cause her imprisonment. RossEp.—On Saturday night, the Camp Bar- ry House, mp by Mr. Hunt, near the camp on e Bladensburg road, was entered by some thief, and robbed of about one dollar’s worth of clothing belonging to the inmates. About 9 o’clock this morning, the bell of the Franklin sounded another alarm, on ac- count of a dense volume of smoke seen as- cending in the meighborhood of the Treasury Building.
