So DISTURBANCES IN THE Finst Warp Last NicHT—One Man Fatally Wound ed —Last night L sireet in the Firet Ward, for two hours, was in u continual state ot disorder, growing out of altercations between a teamster and colored eople; and which disturbances are said to Fave been caused by the teamsters pushing eff colored people from the sidewalk Officers Cook and Crump arrested the two principals, Patrick Welsh and John Sullivan, teamsters, in the first row and took them to the station- house, and this morning they were fined three dollars each by Justice Drury. After this row, the officers were called upon to quell a disturdance in a distant part of the Ward, and several collissions took place between the op- posing parties, using stones, fists,&c. During the prevalence of the disorder, Mr. Wm. Dono- hoo, residing on L street, near Twentieth, was attacked near Twentieth street by two colored men, one of whom inflicted several wounds on Him with, it is supposed, @ razor or large knife. One gash being on the side of the throat, ex- tending across the breast and abdomen, caus- ing his entrails to protrude, and another down- wards the throot, severtng the windpipe, and a third, slight wound, in the side. Mr. D. was helped in the house and Dr. Joice was summoned; whodressed the wounds, which he thinks are fatal. A large crowd soon gathered, and some women told them that the persons who did the deed had run into a house at the corner of Twentieth street, occupied by —— Tighiman, colored, and the crowd imme- diately proceeded to the place, by this time numbering several hundred, with the intention of tearing the house down and getting hold of the perpetrator of the ontrage. A soldier named Wm. Chancey got an ax and commenced to batter down the door, the crowd, meanwhile, encouraging him, but the police having re- tarned and a guard making its appearance, the crowd was quieted down—the police arrest- ing the soldier Chancey, who was taken to the station, and was this morning turned over to the military by Justice Drury, by whom the affair will be investigated. Chancey stated that his sole object was to get in and arrest the perpetrator. Auother row occurred at “Jenny Lind’s” well known house, on New York avenue, between Twenty-first and Twenty-second streets, and officers Carroher, Rueyand Hurdle Went there and tound two girls—Margaret Myers and Susan Luckett—on the pavement drunk and making use of threats, who they arrested, together with an old duck, Susan | Warten, and they were all taken to the station. ‘This morning the two former were fined #3 earb, and the latter was dismissec, she proying “dthat she was sober. jaja be ME A CHIMNEY tT A Save BANK.—Some days fince Mr. Re min F.
