There was no loss of hfe, and only two insurgents wounded. The insurgents have given up two of the original prisoners who were arrested by the Marshal, and the other two are to be forth- coming. Some of the rescuers are also given up, and no obstruction to the arrest of the oth- ers is tobe made. Arrests of some of the lead- ing insurgents are algo to be made, if they can ve found. The enrollment is to be completed, the ipsurgents to disperse, and the military to be withdrawn, which is already done with the panel ser of one hundred men, who are left to see that the agreeement is complied with in good faith. TE CHOICE.—The choice which lies before those who are disposed to grumble at the few hardships of war which are known to our peo- ne is thus fairly stated by the Louisville Jour- nal: “If any body is dissatisfied with Federal Money, let him go South and get Confederate money. Ifany body is dissatisfied with Uni- ted States taxes let him go South and pay Southern taxes. If any body is dissatisfied with the United States enrollment let him go Seuth andenjoy the benefits of the Southern conscription.” COUNTERFEIT FirTy-CextT PostaGE Cur- RENCY'—Obdserve: 1. Editor Frew Ee aula eatneus koooae Althéugh not disposed to favor or recommend Patent Medicines in ‘Feneral, through, distrast of their ingredients and effects, I yet know of no sufficient reasoas why a man may not testify to the benefits he believes himself to have received frem any simple preparation, in the hope that he may thus contribute to the benefit of others. I do this the more readily in regard to Hoofland’s German Bitters, pope by Dr. C. M. Jackson, of this city, because 1 was prejudiced against them Yer many years, under the impression that they were chietiy gn alcoholic mixture. I am indebted to my friend Kobert Shoemaker, Esq.,for the removal of this prejudice by proper tests, and for encourage- ment to try them, when suffering from great and long continued debility. The use of three bottles ese Bitters, at the beginning of the present rear, was followed by evident relief, and restoration % agegree of bodily and mental vigor which I had not felt for six months before, and had aimost de- spaired of regaining. I therefore thank God and my friend for directing me to the use of them. j J. NEWTON BROWN, Philadelphia, June 22, 1961. Every case of that kind can be readily cured by Hoofland’s German B: itte: Diseases resulting from disorders of the digesti organs are speedily removed. We have no hesi' tionin stating that. if these Bitters were freely used among our soldiers, hundreds of lives might be saved that otherwise will be lost. ‘We call particular attention to the following re markable and well authenticated cure of one of the nation’s heroes, whose life, to use hisown. “has been saved by the Bitters :’” PHILADELPHIA, August}273d, 1863.
