LUCAL NEWS. AMUSEMENTS TO-NIGHT. Grover’s THEATER.—Mise Lucille Western this evening enters wpon the fourth and Iast yreek of her brilliantly successful engagement st Grover’s. The bill for to-night is that most popular of plays, “ Eaat Lynne, or the Elope- ment.” Her representation of the heroine of the pisy is strikingly effective. CANTREBURY.—The dr ma has become quite a fesiare of the Canterbury music hall, and to-night will be performed a now play outitled- the “Convict’s V engeance.” This innovation has nc4, however, displaced the amusing Ethio- pian acts, OF the gracetul dances, which have qmade this resort 80 popular, but all are per- formed as usual, in connection with the drama. CanNCRO88 AND DixEy’s. MINaTRELA will ‘ve three more eatertainments at Odd Fellows’ ‘aij, Seventh street, and will introduce new soncs, Acts and features, although the bill per- formed the first three nights wag a1! that could be desired. None who delight in this sort of emurement cin fail to be pleased with this troupe. VARIETIES.—The management here offer a good bill and announce good performers for this evening. Misa Addie Johnson, a favorite Actress, will appear as “St. Alme,” «Hamet,” and “Mathilde,” in 4 Simmons adaptation of the «French Spy." John Hoeke. the creat snare drummer, will make his firstappearance, and Nellic Howard, W. S. Budwerth, Harry Leslie and others will appear. Merrorouitan Hal: is a coel and comfor- ¢able resort, and the selections from Italian, German and English operas there performed are of a very entertaining order. The musical talent—both vocal and instrnumental—employed. is such as amaterrs would delight in. STRAWERBREY Frativats.—A Strawberry Festival will be given this evening for abeney- olent purpose, in the old Trinity Hall, Fifth street, by the ladies connected with the Ual- mary Baptist CRurch. Music, flowers, and an exhibition of Disolying Views, will add interest w the affair. A similar festival will also be given at the Columbia Engine House, Capitol Hill, tor the benefit of St. Peter’s Sunday School; and another will also be held at Odd Fellows’ Hall, Navy Yard, for the Senefit of Christ Church Sabbath School; all offering gTeat attractions. Searcuine vor Horsre.—Edgar V. Weir, Amos Benson and Charles L. Cushing, of the 4th Virginia Cavalry, were committed to the Central Gurdhonse yesterday by order of the Provest Marshal, having been sent in trom Centerville, where they had been captured on the Sth inst. by Capt. Thompson, of the 111th N. ¥. Volunteers. On two of the prisoners were found printed leaves of absence from Gen. Fitzhugh Lee, the leaves stating that the persons to whom the leave was granted “hay- ing given satisfactory evidence of their willing- ness and ability to procure horses in the piace of those killed, lost, or rendered unserviceable in the service, will proceed without delay to their places of residence for that object, return- ing to their regiments within twelve days without fail.” All the prisoners have been captured and exchanged heretofore. Sent Sovrs.—Mrs. John H. Waring, Miss Priscilla, Miss Alice, and Miss Julia Waring, wife and daughters ef Col. John H. Waring, of Prince George's county, Md., who has been on trial here before a court-martial on allega- tions in connection with the resorting of the young man Walter Bowie, and others from the South, to the Colonel’s house, were on Satur- day afternoon started South by way of Har per’s Ferry. Mr. Waring, inhis defense, un- dertook to show that whatever had been done at his house (except the receiving of his own son when he returned from the South) in aid of partios in the Confederate service, had been generaily without his consent and knowledge, and his daughters took upon themselves the sespousib lity of a mail being hid in one of the is. oa ArRIVAL OF REEL PRISONERS.—Sixty- three rebel prisoners, captured below Freder- icksburg ou Friday night, arrived here on Saturday and were committed to the Old Cap- itol prison. Among the number are Major E. ‘T. Stakes, 40th Virginia; Lieutenant J.T. Wil- beln, Baltimore Artillery; Lieutenant Francis Bays, Lientenant Edgar Roberta, and Lieu- tenant J. B. Wyatt, of the 2d Florida. Thirty more, captured at the same time, arrived here yesterday. Itis alleged that Creel has publicly de- clared that his arrest was unjust, but that he would take care in the future to do something justifying a second arrest. He is said to have boasted, also, that although he had taken the oath of allegiance, he did net regard it as binding. nee Szeconp Warp Srar 8.—John Hor- Tigan, stealing a horse; ssed. Benj.
