The whole company will appear ina varied bill of song, dance, and Ethiopian eccentricity. Cincvus—The equestrian drama of “Dick Turpin,” as pertormed under the Macarte- Nixon canvas, is very attractive and enter- tsining, especially that scene representing the ride to York and the death of “Black Bess," which is full of thrilling interest. A good en- tertainment otherwise, of ring and equestrian performances. ee ed CHARGE or Bicamy.—Last Saturday C. F. Brown was arrested by officer Keating, upon a | charge of bigamy, and was taken before Justice Clark for a hearing. The complainant was Ida Price, according to the police register, “formerly # resident of the Blue Bird, on Dstreet, between Eleventh and Twelfth.’ Ida alleged that she was married to the accused about two months ago, and exhibited her marrige certificate in evidence, showing their marriage by Rey. Mr. Raymond, then Lieutenant of the Provost Guard, and since, Lieutenant Colonel of the colored regiment,—the nuptials witnessed by Justice Walter. She had received letters pure porting to be from Brown's wife in Philadel. phia. The case was dismissed, the complain- ant being satisfied that the letters were bogus, and she destroyed the documents. Yesterday morning John Martin was arrested by officer Franklin, charged by Jane Martin with bigamy. The party was taken before Justice Clayton. The complainant stated that she wus married to the aecused sixteen years ago, in New York, and that she was the mother of five children by him; that abont six years ago Martin lett her suddenly in New York, and she did not see him again until, hearing thathe WAs married Azain to a woman in Baltimore, she came to this city and found him and his new wife living together, and with them her daughter, about nine years of age. The two ‘Wives meeting at Martin’s house, and the ex- planation being made by the complainant, the officer had some difficnity in preventinga fight between them. The daughter at once recog- nized and ran to her mother. The case koes directly to the grand jury, and Justice Clayton committed Martin to jail. ——— A Riot.—Night before last, a riot occurred near the corner of Twenty-first and M streets, which, but for the prompt measures taken by the police, might have been fraught with disas- trous consequences. From what we learn, a teamster belonging to a train camped near by ‘Went to a shop in tne neighborhood and got into an altercation with several colored men, who beat him badly. The teamster went to the camp and returned with over a hundred of his com- rades, who were armed with sticks, pistols, slung-shots, &c.,- and they surrounded the house, threatening to tear it down. Sergeant Hurley, with a number of policemen, at this | time arrived, and arrested one of the ringleaders, John Glasco, and the crowd made an attempt to rescu@him, but the police took a bold stand, determined, if they laid hands on the prisoner, to defend themselves, and the crowd was ordered off, and they reluctantly retreated to their camp, several shots being fired by them at the police on their way, which were returned. Glasco, who was arrested, was locked up in the First Ward lock-up; but that building being out of repair, he managed to escape during the night. es epee THE CasE Or COL. It is charged that the young Walter wie, who was ofthe party on their way South with Charles Hume of this city, when he was shot by the military guard, near Port Tobacco, was concealed in Dr. Waring’s house after his es- cape on that occasion. These gentlemen pre- sent mitigating circumstances to Hon. Mr. Holt, Judge Advocate General, in Col. Waring’s case, aS well as that of others in that sectlon, who have been arrested. Someof the inmates | testified that these parties had robbed the sail- | ore, and the Justice committed them to jail for Court. They were also, carried to the Superin- | tendents office and had their mugs taken forthe | gallery.
