About one o’clock yesterday morning Mrs. Hanning heard or imagined she heard a noise in the yard, and got out of bed and went to the window, and while she was imtently watching from the window Mr. Han- ning awoke and saw his wife standing there. | Without thinking, he acted on the impression which first entered his mind—that the person in the windew was a burglar, and he quietly arose from his bed, tock his revolver, and deliberatcly fired upon the objectin the window, and ashriekend fall revealed the mischief he bad done by his haste. Dr. Newman was immediately called to rea Mrs. Hanning. Upon examination, he found that the ball entered her shoulder, passed through the body, and came | out at the heart. The doctor, we understand, entertains hopes of her recovery.
