Republican of the 26th inst. with regard to Liberia vs. Central America; the land of promise for colored Americans. I will Just say for the benefit of the Liberian writer, and all others of like opinion, that the cqlored people of the Uaited States, at least a greater portion of them, are opposed to Liberian colonization. They maintain that the descendants of Africa in the United States have no more right to migrate to the continent of Africa than the descendants of Europe tn the United States to migrate to the con- tinent of Europe. And we do not intend to go to Liberia or any other part of Africa, orto Hayti or eny other tl. The Liberian advocate, and others of like opinion, must remember that the American negro \s quite different from the African or Haytien negro The former is closely con- nected with the white raceofthiscon(inent. We, have been tanght to venerate virtue, to strive to attain it; and though debarred from the rights of citizenship, our hearts none the less cling to the land of our birth.
