N. PIKE'S the shape you wish. Gather together some pine cones, and a few nuts of different kinds, such as Brazil nuts, hazel nuts, hickory nuts, almonds, acorns, and tho like. Dark colored nuts are generaliy considered best. Take some of the largest pine cones and cut the leaves off, glue them around the small end of acone or the cup of an acorn, in the shay of a rose. (One of these on each side of frame willde. Then glue thickly around the outer and inner edges of the frame these leaves of the cones, and fill in the remaining spaces with the nuts, small cones and pieces of leather made to imitate oak leaves as profusely as pos- ble, leaving no part of the frame uncovered. ood taste in arranging them will, of course, add to the beauty of the frame when finished. After this is deae, glue around the outer edge of the frame some of the smaller cones so as to extend over the edges. A bunch of raisins on each side will sometimes add to the appearance, but good taste will dictate as to any additions. Alter the glue is dry the whole should be varnished with a soft brush at least twice, with good furniture varnish and left to get perfeetly dry before being exposed to the dust. They should be covered when the room is swept, as the dust is very difficult to remove. TO TAKE OUT GREASE PROM THE LEAVES oF . BOOKS. After having warmed the paper stained with grease, wax, oil, or any fat iy whatever, take ss much of it out as possible by means of bietting-paper. Then dip a small brush in the essential oil of well-rectified its of turpen- tine, heated almost to ebullition (for when cold it acts very weakly), and draw it gently over both sides of the paper, which must be kept warm. This operation must be repeated as many times as the quantity of the fat body imbi by the paper, or the thickness of the paper, may render necessary.
