Tur Tainv Connecticct Reoturt.—One of those plensant incidents that vary the monotony of camp life, occurred this morning at the camp of the itd Connecticut regiment, on Meridian Hill, in thiselty. The Hon. Jas E. English, of the Connecticut Congressional delegation . ordered for Colonel Chatfield, of the Third Co neeticnt Volunteers, a rich and elegant Colonel’ dress uniform, the presentation of which made in the presence of the entire regiment with other friends, by the Rev. Mr. Willey, Chaplain of the regiment, acting in Mr. Englisb’s behalf. There was a universal regret that Mr. Engilis! ‘was unable to be present, butthe most soonest made by the chaplain, whose allusions to the Colonel’s self-denyiny labors and trials in behalf of this regiment, and to his very in leading them during the trying scenes through ‘whick they had so recently passed, were met by the involuntary confirmation of heaving breasts and moistened eyes. At the conclusion, ne rousing Cheérs from the entire regiment for Mr. English testified the universal feeling toward the genercus donor. The following letter accom- panied the gift: Wasnineton. In order to cleanse him it was found requisite to tura the hand hose upon him. Watchman Hutchinson returned to the canal and succeeded in rescuing the horse, a fine animal, which could not have cost leas than three hundred dollars.
