THE EVENING STAR. An Extraordinary Elopement and a Meurn- ‘us Marriage. The other day, two of the most rural of the ruralists, from k county, Ky., rejoicing in the names of Mary and Isaac, arrived, with railway haste, at the Spencer House, for the , they stated to ol. French, one of the elerks of the hotel, of entering Hymen’s court forthwith. ‘After he bad given them all the becessary information as to the mode of pro- cedure, they seemed to be overcome with the responsibility of their position, and fearfully Impressed with the awful future before them, at an burst into tears, and fell, like crying ehildren, into each other's arms. So grieved did they seem that they were told if they had repented, there was no necessity of marrying, san that they had better return home as they came. To this they objected, and Mary, drying her eyes for a moment, said they had run away to get married, and marry they must, to which Isaac silently assented Here they indulged fresh fit of weeping and hung on each other’s necks with mroeing optics—apparent victims to a fate they eoul not resist Persuasion and reasoning were employed in vain They would weop, and they would get mar- ried. So some one induced [sano and Mary— they would not be separated—to get into a carriage and drive to the Probate Court for a license. There they did the lachrymose again vury copiously, but their hearts were still firm. ‘They looked through tearful orbs at the dread shape of marriage, and though they trembled they did not fly. The license was secured, and back they went — the Spencer. A clergyman was secured, and as soon as he had asked them to stand up, ia order to have the ceremony performed, they set up such a regular boo-hoo as is rarely witnessed outside of « low comedy on the stage. The parson was alarmed, the lookers-on were surprised, and the D. D. told them very biendly if they were not prepared for the se- rious and solemn occasion. it would be well to Postpone the affair, at least until they were mare compo “No po-po-post-penement, »? blubbered out Isaac; “we mu-must get spli-spliced.”” - Yes,” said Mary, “‘weca-can’t help but we're bound-bound-to get married.’ Thus assured, the service went on, aud at last the min: pronounced them man and wife—a decl: mn that was received with a burst of aqueous agony that surpassed all pre- vious efforts. The spectators of the strange*’scene coul] no Tonger restrain an audible smile, and left the | newiy-wedded pair to themselves and their tears. Soon after, the wedded weepers were induced to retire to their room, where they remained until late in the morning When they appeared’ at breakfast they | seemed very well satisfied with each other and wedlock, and their faces bore no traces of their late sorrow, which had given place to many wreathed smiles and the presence of a | eryin’; noed Rheumatism, Foul | on the days appointed, and will proseed in the ord: corner of Sixth et, | Breath i lestete, nature, webdssloes Jocund joy. | in which they are advertised, until the whole shal train of frightful diseases such as Mal ugnarct Fevers, They returned home in the afterncon train, have been offered, and the sales thus closed ; but no | EA@@AGS OERCKRED vmnovex To MEW onLuans. | Aboesses, Dysentery.
