These honored guests were invited to occupy seats in the second car of the train, which was comfortably arranged for their especial accommodation. The President was in an unusually happy mood, and seemed to be very inuch gratified at the prospect of a pleasant trip and an opportunity of seeing this exhibition of superior nautical skill. The train moved off at precisely forty minutes past seven, and is now approaching the Annapolis Junction. The cultivated state of the fields aly along the way display the industry of those re- siding in the vicinity, but at the same time pre- sent a sorrowful spectacle as regards the condition of the plants and vegetables, all appearing dried and parched, from the great drought which has recently prevailed in this, as in other sections of the country. But we are now at the Annapolis Junction Those who intend visiting the Great Eastern are exchanging their seats In this for others in the train for Annapolis, so your correspondent, in order not to be left behind, must bid the Star “* good-by”” for the present.
