Harp Jon. —Saturday night, the residents in the vicinity of Pierce street north complained to the Police that a colored fellow was creating a very considerable disturbance of the peace by his dis- orderly conduct. A couple of watchmen started fer the scene. Upon arriving there. Watchman Murphy went to the deor of the house in which was the disturber. who instantly tried to keep him ont. Murphy got in. and the fellow seized an axe and made for him. ‘There was barely light enough to distinguish the fellow with the axe raised to strike. and that determined the watchman to act quickly. He sprang at the fellow before the axe fell, and a desperate fight ensued in the dark .
