This idea he also carried with him to Gettysburg, and present- ing himself at the Theological Seminary there, prottered letters of introduction from a number of [ighty respectable Lutheran ministers, describing him asa Lutbecan by birth, education, and con- viction. At Gettysburg, he remained until it was ascertained that he had been quite recently an in- of the Redemptionists Institution near An- polis. where he got another ticket of leave. From Gettysbarz he writes an affecting letter to his honorable friend at Baltimore, assuring him that he will make that little bill all right in the fall, and announcing tbat be is going to start “to-morrow” for Europe. This letter be en- closes to the book-keeper of Willard’s Hotel in this city, signing himself *‘ Kenaud,” and re- quests him to mail it to its address from Wash- ington, as he desires it to bear a Washington mark. His honorable friend in Baltimore makes in ries of the Count, and learns. too late. that he been sold. He telegraphs to Capt. Goddard. chief of police, to look for, and, when found, to keep, the noble Prussian. Armed with the necessary documents, Captain Goddard on Tuesday last dis- covered the illustrious Count on his ai ‘al here, and conveyed him to jail for sxfe keeping, where he kept him until yesterday afternoon. Ou inaking the capture the captain telegraphed to Baltimore that he bad him all right, dl clesired his aceuser to come and prefer charges. The victimized fune- tionary did not appear, but sent an excuse that he was sick, and could not come. Count Glichen was therefore discharged trom custody yesterday afternoon, as there was no “operation’’ charged against him in this city. His weakness thro out seems to have been to correspond with distin- guished personages, and, once baving obtained their autographs. to borrow all the cash he could from willing gulls on the strength of them. Pouick Matrers.—Before Justice Donn.—Yes- terday, Officer Barnes arrested a mau named Den- nis Sweeney for an assault and battery on acolored man,aslaveof Mr.G. W. Talburtt.
