In the early part of the evening, the festival was visited by the In- mates of the deaf, dumb and blind asylum of this Distriet. under the care of Mr. FE. M. Gallaudet. The ladies of the different tables kindly supplied them with refreshments, and, In return, the little liad ones sang several of their songs. The un- fortunate deaf and dumb ones seemed as mach delighted with what they saw as any one present in the enjoyment of all the senses could have done, and evineed their appreciation of it by an ani- mated interchange of thoughts by means of their mute alphabet. A Tittle later in the evening, Mr. Jos. H. Tue DeMonstRAtION IN THE SixTH Warp Last Nigat —On the announcement of the vote in the Sixth Ward, last night, a large number of the victorious Democrats, headed by Withers’s band, proceeded to the residence of Mr. F. McNe hany. for the purpose of Serenading him. After the performance of several lively airs by the band, Mr. McNerbany made his aj neeyand ad- dressed the crowd, amid great applause. He con: gratulated them on the achievement of a victoi “ worthy of the ancient renown of the Democracy of the Sixth Ward.’ He also congratulated them on the feature in the election showing the devotion of the Democracy of the ward to the cause of pub- lic schools, and of the National Washington Mou- wineut. We have not the space to give anything like a perfect idea of Mr. McNerbany’s effort, and will only add that it was in bis waracteristic brilliant style, and was enthusiastically receiv. by his audience. After partaking of Mr. Mc) hany’s hospitalily, the company retired, and ited the residences of Messrs ¢ ber, Boisea: Rassell, Councilinen elect, and that of Mr. Tuell, Aseessor elec re they were hospitably enter- tained, the band at each place discoursing good music. Several shots were then fired into the crowd by some one in the Louse, and three persons were slightly wounded, one in the neck, another in the thigh, and another in the waist. A man named 8.1, O'Brien, who was seen coming from the Louse, was arrested by Otticer Arnold and taken to the lock-up house. This morning he was held to bail for court. The general - ion seemed to be that the shots were fired by Christopher Boblayer, who bas not been arrested. The matter will be further investigated when the ‘ies are all arrested, and the injared persons will be brought up as witnesses. ‘I'here are two sides to this question, and on the other one it is contended that the attack was made on the house before the shots were tired.
