Seeing this, my son stepped back, drew his pistol,and commanded those around his to “stand back,” fired. Senestack, Warden. The prisoner, Win. Lyons, is respectably con- nected, and was at one time a midshipman in the Navy. When convicted he was twenty-four years ofage. His crime was stealing a watch, and he was sentenced for four years. Shortly after he en- tered the Navy, he became very dissipated in every respect, and no donbt in a drunken spree he stole the watch for which he is now under sen- tence. Si the penitentiary his conduct has been extremely stubborn and unruly, generally leading to resistance by fighting, and he has been frequently in irens for insubordination.
