U0 The libel case of Edwin Forrest agt. N. P. Willis, in New York, was taken up for trial, yes terday. Mr. John Van Buren opened the case for ‘the plaintiff, giving an extended narrative of the difficulties between Mr. and Mrs. Forrest. Mr. Forrest, Mr. W. R. Blake, and other theatrical celebrities were present. Mr. Willis was absent, his counsel stating that he was too ill to attend, and that one of his witnesses was deqd and the others scattered over the earth. The court-room ‘was crowded, and much interest manifested In the proceedings.
