Reed to be changed from an effective to su- peruumerary , Was heard and granted A resoluti ppointing a committee to collect money from the members for the purpose of rais- ing the funds necessary to pay the expense of publishing the Annual Register was then adop?- ed, and a committee of one from each district ‘Was appointed. The Secretary then read the report of the Com- mittee on Sunday Schools; which was adopted. The Conference then listened to a few remarks from Rev. Dr. Thos E. Bond, who has been ap- Pointed to edit and epee a Specimen number of the ‘Baltimore Christian Advocate’’ for the use of agents and for distribution. Rev. J. Poisal, from the Committee on the Bible Ca here made a report, stating that, since the orgauization of the Soctety, the Scrip- tures had been translated into more than seventy languages and dialects, and multiplied by mil- tions of copies. ‘The emiyrant read it in the de- les of the Rocky mountains, and in the mines of California; and the Laplander read it by the light of the seal-oil lamps. Wherever it appear- ed. the darkness of human nature vanished, and the light of the ylory of God was seen in the face of Jewsnx Christ. Although much bad been done, mneb remained to be done. She ran from him, passing up the south side of the avenue to Ninth street, where she crossed. Her assailant pursued, and as she reached the pavement on the north side, be succeeded in grasping her by the arm. Several gentlemen then interfered, and, rescuing the lady. dragged the ruffian down on the pave- ment. when be immedietely commenced playing off intoxication. Having regained his feet, he behaved quite rudely toa gentleman in the crowd, —Mr. Baxter, Jr , of Virginia,—who immediateiy knocked him down by a blow in the face. ANoTHER SLUNG Snot Arvarr. —A young man named J. T. Maxwell was attacked, knocked down and robbed on last Tuesday night, about 12 o’cloek, as he was returning on foot from the President's Levee, by a man who followed and attscked Lim when near the corner of Twelfth and G streets. ‘The fellow came rapidly up be- bind him and struck bim a blow over the bead with a heavy slungahot| Mr. M. attempted to ward off the blow, and, erying murder, ran aeross the street. ‘Phe villain followed him and struck him again twice with the weapon, cut- ting his head and face, blinding him with the blood which flowed copiously, and felliug him senseless on the pavement. How long he lay there he was unable to say, but bis consciousness was not restored until! Le found himself near bis own bome in the Northern Liberties. He then examined his kets and dixcovered that he bad been robbed of hix watch and cbain, and all the eash which he bad about his person. He takes the AFFRAY IN THE Sixt Warp —Monday night aman named Morgan, while intoxicated, cre- ated a disturbance in a restaurant at the Navy Yard, kept by Mr. Conner. He was put ont by the proprietor, who closed the door avainst him. Morgan became outrageous, and returned and foreed his way in again, when the proprietor struck bim with a weapon, said to be a gun bar- rel, seriously wounding him. Morgan was taken to his residence and Lis wound dressed. We learn that he is not in a proper condition to ap- pear before a magivtrate, and the case will go to the grand jury for investigation.
