The second term commences on the 13th of Allen, manifesting their chagrin and disap- pointment by refusing to give up their badges of office to their successors. They threw every obstacle they could in the way of the new officers to prevent them from collecting old judgments; and some of them made it their business to inform persons owing the Corporation money, that the judgments were out of date. This may be another cause of ‘the falling off of the receipts.’’ Officers Yeatman, Reynolds, Dougherty and Mitchell had, on the 30th of November, in their poseession, $612.22 of the Corporation money, which they were prepared to opens on that day if the Register had been willing to issue drafts to pay them for their services as police officers.
