A metaliccoffin was ordered for the corps, and in the absence of his friends the goffin containing the body was placed in ono of the yaults at the cemetery belonging to # gentleman rosiding in the city. The yn'd had remained some thirty days, we are 5 when the undertaker who furnished the coffin and placed the pody, Shace was to remove it. He took it away and buried it. The friends of the deceased came on shortly afterward and demanded the body, which the undertaker re- fused to give up unless the expenses (amount- ing to $140,) which he had occurred, werepaid He refused to tell them where the coffin and bey were buried unless his just dues were psid. orhe was secured from which we think- was: @just and lawful demand. The friends of the deceased, however; did not pay the debt, and arrested the undertaker for un- lawfally detaining the dead body, and he was confined during Friday it. Yesterday morning he; parties before Justice Drullard, and the complaint was made. The undertaker was held to answer before the next Court of Oyer and, Terminer in this city, and give bail to appear. The parties are ail most respectable, and considerable was manifested. We have the above form officers connected with the affair. The arrest was made by Officer James Cowen. Since then the undertaker has obtained a warrant against the friends of the deceased for false imprison- ment.—Luffalo Republic. Day.
