Great Britain has sent a new ultimatum to the Egyptian govern-} ment, aceording to a} Central News dis-) patch from Cairo to- day. The new note is re-| ported to state that | Great Britain will not | “ ‘ “tolerate the intro-| Chamberlain, quction of any laws imperialist calculated to hamper the British adminis- tration in Egypt.” The note further insists upon the maintenance of Brit-| ish control in the Egyptian army by the presence of British troops, Meanwhile, the Egyptian govern- ment in acknowledging the British note, states that it cannot deal with its contents because of the fact tha#} the Egyptian ministry has resigned, according to an Exchange dispatch from Cairo. % Much anxiety is being felt here} over the threatened revolt of desert tribesmen led by Ibn Sand, King of the Wahabi. Saud is reported to be supporting the war being waged by the Mohammedan Arabs against the British forces in Iraq and Transjor- dania. The new ultimatum to Egypt was seen here today as an indication that the British government means to take stringent measures to quell the upris- ing before it takes on extensive pro- portions. Planes, armored cars and tanks are reported to have been massed by the British in Iraq ready to be rushed into action at the first indication that the hostilities would reach propor- tions warranting their use. The British are expected to rely mainly upon planes. A small war fleet has been assembled in the Per-| sian Gulf off Koweit, SAKLATVALA HITS NEW SIMON PLAN LONDON (By Mail).—When the news that the Simon Commission was willing to make “concessions” was received here, §S. . Saklatvala, Communist member of the House of Commons, despatched the following cablegram to friends in India: “In behalf of the Communist Party i urge India not to be de- ceived by Simons’ sham concession. The parliament of British Imperial- ists, including the Labor M. P.’s, will treat any report injuring British capitalist interests as a serap of pa- per. “Genuine steps to conciliation would take the form of immediate release of political prisoners ana withdrawal of British troops, thus giving practical guarantees of the end of the British rule of violence. “I urge the Indian movement to repudiate this sham concession and any politician who accepts it. “Concentrate on district commit- tees for convening a National Con- s‘ituent Assembly, and appeal to the British workers direct over the heads of their imperialist leaders — Saklatvala.” REPUBLICANS PICK LOWDEN, ~ SIOUX FALLS, S.
