FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 1951 Adonis Sentenced Handcuffed to James (Piggy) Lynch (left), big shot racketeer Joe Adonis (right) makes a wry face after he was sentenced to two to three years in state prison and fined §15,000 at Hackensack, N. J. for violating New Jersey gambling ever imposed on the 49-year-old laws. It was the first jail sentence Adonis, who was named by the Senate Crime Committee as one of the nation’s most notorious gamblers. Lynch and two other associates of Adonis received similar sentences. () Wirephoto. NATIONAL E Nearly every state in the union will be represented by members of the National Editorial Association who will be in Juneau June 9 aboard the S. S. Aleutian. On a pos vention trip thru Alaska, following the organization’s 66th annual convention, there 'will ke 170 people, newspapermen, their wives, sons, daughters aboard the Aleutian. President of the National Editor- ial Asspciation is J. Clifford Kay- nor, owner of the Daily Record of Ellensburg, Washington, one of the country’s best-known newspaper- fmen. He will be accompanied by Mrs. Kaynor on the Alaska trip. Don Eck, who brought the NEA to Alaska on a cruise over ten years ago, will be along this time. He is executive secretary of the NEA.
