The first fisl of 1950 was landed last Sunday off Marmion Island by Mrs. Leo (Mildred) Moran of Juneau. I was a 38-pound Kking | taken while Mrs. Moran was trouing | with a Bert Seaton plug painted ‘ white. Ruth Hager, with the same party, | hooked into one which she said lacted like a “big one.” The fish | shook the hook loose and got away. General local opinion seems to be ! that the first good run of the sea- son won't be seen until early in April, but this isn’t stopping many of the keener sports fishermen. Quilico Sports Center reports that the salmon tackle business was quite good following the appearance of Mrs. Moran’s salmon on display.
