Certainly, excuses make poor payments, but you're entitled to an explanation and here it is. Ever since the baby arrived, we've had to struggle to make ends meet. We badly underestimated the expense of another mouth to feed, even though a little mouth. Then, a series of financial set-backs in my own business have complicated things still further. It's been bad planning on my part from start to finish and, I'm ashamed to say, we had no reserve to fall back on. Like a lot of other people, we never expected to feel the pinch and didn't prepare for it. I know this kind of letter doesn’t help you meet your own expenses, but please bear with us a while longer. I will muke every attempt to settle up soon. Thanks for your patience. Sincerely, John Doe Here's a situation that occuks many times every year ...every week..,every day! CHURCHILL PLANNED' TO TAKE OWN LIFE, IF ENEMY WON OUT, HOBART, Tasmania, Oct. 23. (P |—Sir James Bissett, former Cap- tain of the liner Queen Mary, says Winston Churchill planned his own death during the war rather than risk falling into enemy hands. In a speech at Lanceston last night, Bissett said he was respon- sible for the safety of Britain's wartime Primie Minister on three voyages on the Queen Mary. Always, he said, a special life- boat crew was standing by to take Churchill off should the liner be sunk. In addition a man stood by with a loaded pistol with orders to shoot Churchill should his cap- ture by the Germans seem lmmln- ent, Bissett said.
