PAGE EIGHT PRESIDENTS' COUNCIL IS FORMED HERE Represenla-livgs of 23 Dif- ferent Groups Perfect Or- gamzahon last Night The Gastineau Channel President’s Council was officially organized a & meeting last night in the Juneau City Council where 23 of the City's clubs -and orgabizations wereé repre- sented. Mayor *W. E. Hendrickson who presided, was directed to pro- ceed with plans for the entertain- ment of visiting service-men and dignitaries He was given permission to call cn the various groups. for help.in the shape of representatives ta serve on entertainment committees to meet the area's needs as they de- velop. No financial assistance is con- templated at the present time. Discussion was also given to a central activities calendar to be kept in the City Hall but no action was taken at last night's meeting Corsiderable talk was also heard on the possibility of a Juneau Com- .munity Chest but it was felt that action would have to be taken Ly the individual organizations before group action could be made. Organizations represented were: Loyal Order of the Moose; Teen-Age Club; Soroptimists; American Legon; American Legion, Ladies' Auxiliary; Amerfean: Territorlal Federation of Labor; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies' Auxiliary. Juneau Chamber of Commerce; Junior Chamber of Commerce; B P. O. Elks; Kiwanis; Lions; Rotary; Military Order of the Cootie; Busi- ness and Professional Women's Club; Juneau Woman's Club; Beta S Phi Sorority; American Women's Voluntary Services; Filipino Com- munity; Cathelic Societies; Forty and Eight. The Mayor announced that Lieu- tenant Commander Edward P. Ches- ter, Jr., J. 8.
