B FIRST SOAP BOX WINNER AT AKRON THIS YEAR Bob Gravett, designer oi “Old Number 7,” the first winner of a Soap Box Derby 156 years ago, will be honored in Akron this year as one who helped to inspire this great ! classic race for boys. Gravett is to- day the President of a metal stamp- ing company in Dayton, Ohio. His “Old Number 7" was the car that attracted the attention of My~ ron E. Scott in 1933 when Scott was lcoking for a photographic feature for his newspaper, the Dayton Daily News. Scott is today general maneger of the Soap Box Derby, and “Old Number 7' has become symbolical of all racing cars and is now the central figure of the offi- cial Derby emblem.
