The question then arose whether resi- dents of the section would pay the sum assessed and why they should get such a service for the low amount when Juneau taxpayers the finite fire No defin- was sub- or- for swering limits. taken but there were paying $200 or more for fire protection. Curtis Shattuck, Wellknown in- surance man, expressed the opinion that in case of a fire in the pro- posed new limits, and one in the city limits, the city would be de- prived of half of the present fire fighting equipment and in case of a large conflagration, the result would be disastrous. The hint was dropped that city insurance rates might be raised. Another suggestion was that those outside the city limits should band together, purchase their own fire {ighting equipment and have their own volunteer department. A check was received from Wallis George covering accrued fiscal tax from 1941 to 1946. The application from the McKinley Distributors, Inc., for a general wholesale liquor license, was approved. The question of renewal of the Workman's Compensation and Em- ployers’ liability insurance was brought up and will be discussed at the next Council meeting, June 20, after the Finance Committee has (Old and&{\k’w f'n Derby chmxs* If‘ ry E i or y i 3;M, $10,000Richer n t tries for the big race July e et 2 tion to Juneau, entries ccupat 100 32 of from Douglas and Sitks litary comm set up Ever since the Haine ff w i e Yesterday, Rotarians 100k v anied.
