In adapting this yarn to the | screen script writers Melvin Levy | and Francis Edwards Faragoh have reportedly captured all oi the action, adventure. and ro- mance of the book. Hannah Brockway (Evelyn Key- cs), engaged to marry Dr. Sam Martin (Willard Parker) loses her ! heart instead to Ben Dembrow (Larry Parks), of the outlaw band tries to go straight, forced to join his father (Edgar Buchanan). Ben, who finally is marauding Han- nah mearries Ben, despite this move | and becomes a member of the out- law band. Eventually she repents, and summons Sam at the stirring| climax of the story. Van Dyke, directing, in- jected many deft touches of arits- try into the romance of the French Princess who fled to New Orleans to escape a state marriage and there found romance in a young English Army omcer TRAPPER-GUIDE FRCM ALEUTIANS ViSITS JUNEAU Walter Kamsack, wellknown Aleutian trapper and guide, is vis- iting the offices of the Alaska Native Service. Kamsack, the enly civilian guide attached to the famous Alaskan Scouts of the U. S. Army during the Aleutian campaign, is enroute to Seattle to sell some of the furs he trapped during the season just ended Kamsack reported that results of this season’s trapping were not up to par. He also said that there is a big shortage of help in the fur trapping industry and that also makes his business difficult. Kam-~ sack traps on six of the Aleutian Islands, including Semisopochnoi, Ulak, Ilak and Unalga. Before the war he made his home on Atka, but now lives at Unalaska. Paul Burton, another Aleutian trapper, is reported as being miss- ¢ ing, according to Kamsack. He said that the wreckage of Bur- ton's boat and outboard motor had been discovered on the shore of Amukta Island, but that his body has not yet been found.
