And yet, today, the world acknowledges the brilliant com- petence of the U.'S. Army’s performance in bringing a new A . way of life to a conquered nation. A Miss Helen Mears, writing in a recent issue of The New 418 Yorker, put it this way: “Considering that it is only a littlé - more than a year since the first American troops landed in Japan . . . conditions today are astonishing. . . . The occupation has become . . . so efficient that life in Japan is no more difficult or dangerous than life at home. . . . From the GI right on up the line, the word . . . is ‘good duty.”” Similarly favorable reports continue to appear almost daily, as on-the-scene correspondents observe history’s most successful handling of a defeated people. America takes pride in the young men who are shaping this all-important post-war era in the Far East. Soldiers of the new Regular Army bring to their jobs the hope and vision required for the maintenance of a fair and lasting peace. They are equipping themselves for constructive citizenship in a time when the need is great, the benefits far-reachi_ng. A number of famous Army divisions, now on occupation duty in Japan and Korea, have opened their ranks to men en- listing for three years. For men who can measure up, it is a splen- did opportunity to take part in a vital peacetime assignment. Details are available at all U. S. Army Recruiting Stations. *****************,****i*******************.**** THIS MESSAGE OF GREAT PUBLIC INMPORTANCE IS SPONSORED BY: New Washington Hotel RAY THATCHER Manager Our Warmest Wel 5 Waiting for Our Alaska Friends Kk ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ke ok ok ok kK dok ok ok ok Kk ok ok ok kK kK
