Sutton and Mrs. Noel Pennington were the hostesses on Wednesday evening at Mrs. Pen- nington’s apartment for a lovely dessert bridge. There were four tables of bridge and one of Tripo- ley. Bridge prizes went tc Mary Pullen, Mrs. L. H. Johnston and Mrs. Harold F. Fredsell. Tripoley priz ere won by Mrs. Frank J Richmond and Mrs. Walter Self ‘The cut Prize was awarded to Mrs Hugh Tierney. Mrs. Arnold Gutfeld was the final winner of the travel- ing prize. The municipal eicction in Skag- way on the second was enlivened a little by the last minute entrance of two Indfpendent party candi- dates for councilmen, William Feero, Jr., and A. C. Blanchard, Jr., both 'young men, sons of pioneer Skagway residents. Young Feero polled the high vote lor coungilmen, while Blanchard made a good run, coming in a close fourth. One note of interest in the election was the fact that William Feero, was also a candidate for schocl board. Results were as follows: C. A. Car- roll re-elected Mayor for one year with 156 votes; School Board mem- bers, three year term, Wm. Feero. Sr., 135 votes, Mrs. Marie Hoyt, re- elected, one y , 146. There were five candidates for the office of councilman for a two year term Wm. E. Feero, Jr. 143, William Heidelberger, 132, Bruce Boynton, 94, A. C. Blanchard, Jr, 87, and Gale Budd, 50. The registration was 192 but there were many citi- zens who failed to avail themselves of the privilege of registering.
