McEvoy of this city, son of the late Lawrence Mc- Evoy and Mrs, Helena McEvoy of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Jupeau, Alaska, has been promoted to the rank of Technical Sergeant, it was announced here today at Head- quarters, Army Ground Forces, com- manded by Lieut. General Lesley J. McNair. Bergeant McEvoy was employed as a newspaperman in civilian life, having worked on the Washington Times-Herald and Chicago Evening American. He was also editor of the Kent Press Service in Chicago and was a radio news editor. Inducted into the Army June 10, 1941, Bergeant McEvoy was assigned to the combat intelligence unit of the infantry and received his recruit training at Camp Croft, 8.
